Neil has been a Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) member for over 35 years and is currently Chair of the Home Office and Ministry of Justice Policy Units, which includes responsibility for business crime including cyber/fraud issues, and is Intellectual Property lead on the Innovation Committee. He also serves on the FSB’s UK Policy Committee overseeing regulation and employment related policy issues

Neil has been self employed throughout his working career, starting his first (publishing) business whilst still training, and aside from legal practice has jointly owned businesses involved in recording, publishing, wholesaling, mail order, manufacturing and retail, all connected with the music business. He is an accredited commercial mediator.

For the past 23 years Neil has provided business and legal consultancy services exclusively to SMEs alongside his continuing music business interests. As an FSB Policy Chair he contributes to FSB national policy submissions to government on various topics, and meets with government and other agency officials relating to his policy portfolio. He is an active promoter of cyber resilience.
