EMCRC welcomes a new member to their Advisory Group

The EMCRC Advisory Group is vital in helping us improve business resilience in the region, so it is with great pleasure we welcome Simon Cox, who runs NNBN; the Northamptonshire Business Network as well as being Head of Policy for the Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce.

The Advisory Group provides key tactical advice to the CRC from a business and third sector perspective.

The Group plays a critical role in enhancing the CRC’s impact on strengthening regional cyber resilience and developing robust strategies that promote collaborative efforts across sectors to address current and future cyber threats.

The AG provides expert advice and support to ensure the CRC's mission and activities align with the evolving cyber security landscape.

The latest addition to the group, Simon Cox, recognises the threat that online crime brings to business and economy, and he has been already affiliated with the Centre for a while, with NNBN being one of our Community Ambassadors.

Simon is passionate about small business. He understands the challenges faced by micro and small businesses first hand, and continues to support them with his experience and knowledge.

He is also the Head of Policy for the Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce and Milton Keynes Chamber of Commerce, a Trustee of the Kettering Community Business Centre Development Trust which supports 30 local micro-small businesses in The Business Exchange in Kettering, Board Director of WNSET (West Northamptonshire Social Enterprise Towns), regularly chairs the North Northamptonshire Business Forum, an active member of the LVEP (Local Visitor Economy Partnership) and co-hosts the Open 4 Business Radio Show on NLive Radio 106.9 FM.

Furthermore, he's also a Trustee of Kettering Community Unit (KCU), a charity based in Kettering which has supported over 11,000 people this year, and an Ambassador of The Never Alone Project, Northamptonshire’s leading bereavement charity.

Upon his appointment to the EMCRC's Advisory Group, Detective Inspector Colin Ellis, Managing Director and Police Lead of the EMCRC, said:

"I’m really pleased to have Simon join our Regional Advisory Group. Simon is a true business champion, particularly of Northamptonshire businesses, where he brings real energy to doing all he can to help and enable the business community thrive. "He understands the demands of running a small business and his insight in helping us hone our message and boost our reach will be essential as we look to help make organisations across the East Midlands become more cyber resilient."

Simon said of his new role:

“I’m delighted to have joined the Advisory Group of the EMCRC to help improve engagement between the EMCRC and the Northamptonshire business community. In this day and age, it’s important that dialogue happens and key information is shared with businesses to help them counteract cyber security challenges that are experienced by businesses regularly.”

Simon is a great addition to the EMCRC's Advisory Group, and it shows our ambition as a Centre to work with outstanding businesses and organisations such as NNBN and the Chambers of Commerce.

But our need does not end there. We want to positively impact across all sectors, across all parts of the East Midlands so we require insight from business and industry leaders across the spectrum.

If you would like to support our work or join our community, or feel you can bring equal skill, vision and ingenuity to the Centre in other areas, then please contact us via our website or contact Colin Ellis via his LinkedIn account.
