National Police Chiefs’ Council Issue Guidance for Staying Safe on Zoom

Whether it’s for work or leisure, most of us will have taken part in a ‘Zoom chat’ or something similar since the UK went into lockdown last month. These online video chat providers have soared in popularity as more of us have had to move work meetings, training and conferences online due to remote working, but unfortunately, there are a number of scams popping up that are targeting these platforms.

If you are using a platform like Zoom, it’s crucial that you familiarise yourself and your team with the basics of cybersecurity in order to protect your business from potential cyber threats. Something as simple as adjusting your privacy settings in the app could make your meetings much safer!

The NPCC have compiled a comprehensive guide to keeping yourself and your business safe while using online video chat providers such as Zoom, from how to block video recordings to choosing a secure password. You can download their PDF here.

Remember, you can contact your regional CRC for guidance if you have any questions or you feel you’ve been the victim of a cybercrime.
